Church of Santa María la Mayor

Santa María la Mayor is a church in the walled upper town of Trujillo, begun after the town's reconquest in 1232 in late Romanesque style and largely rebuilt in the 16th century. It has three naves and a Gothic altarpiece by Fernando Gallego and his workshop. Two towers rise above it: the Romanesque Torre Julia and the taller new tower, completed in the 18th century.
