Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel

The Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is the Carmelite church of Valletta, first built in the 1570s to designs by Girolamo Cassar. After heavy bomb damage in 1942 it was rebuilt between 1958 and 1981 with a large oval dome, which rises some 42 metres and dominates the skyline of Valletta beside the spire of St Paul's Pro-Cathedral.
