Scuola Grande dei Carmini

The Scuola Grande dei Carmini is the seat of a lay Carmelite confraternity founded in 1594, between Campo Santa Margherita and Campo dei Carmini in Dorsoduro. Its building was completed in 1670 under Baldassare Longhena; a stuccoed staircase leads to the Sala Capitolare, whose ceiling paintings by Giambattista Tiepolo date from the 1740s.
