Butchart Gardens

The Butchart Gardens are display gardens in Brentwood Bay, north of Victoria on the Saanich Peninsula. In 1909 Jennie Butchart began turning her husband's exhausted limestone quarry into the Sunken Garden, and Japanese, Italian and rose gardens followed. Still owned by the Butchart family, the gardens are a National Historic Site of Canada.
