Whipsnade Zoo

Whipsnade Zoo, run by the Zoological Society of London, lies on the Dunstable Downs in the Chiltern Hills, near Dunstable in Bedfordshire. Opened in 1931 on a former farm, it covers about 240 hectares of paddocks for Asian elephants, lions and other animals, and a white lion figure is cut into the chalk hillside below it.
