Salinas de Janubio

The Salinas de Janubio are salt pans on the south-west coast of Lanzarote, built from 1895 to 1945 around a lagoon cut off from the sea by lava from the 18th-century Timanfaya eruptions. Sea salt is still raked by hand between May and October. A 90-minute guided walk covers the pans, the water channels and the old pumping windmills.
