Borobudur

Borobudur is a 9th-century Mahayana Buddhist temple in Magelang Regency, Central Java, about 30 km north-west of Yogyakarta. Built under the Sailendra dynasty, it rises in nine stacked platforms, six square and three circular, topped by a central dome ringed by 72 perforated stupas. Its walls carry 2,672 relief panels; a restoration with UNESCO ended in 1983.
