Gornergrat

Gornergrat is a rocky ridge at 3,135 m above Zermatt, overlooking the Gorner Glacier and the Matterhorn. The Gornergrat rack railway, opened in 1898, climbs from its station opposite Zermatt railway station to the summit station at 3,090 m. Near the top stands the Kulmhotel, whose two towers house astronomical observatories.
