Ålesund Church is the parish church on the island of Aspøya in central Ålesund, built after the fire of 1904 destroyed its predecessor. Designed by Sverre Knudsen and consecrated in 1909, the long stone church is faced with about 2,000 square metres of marble and draws on medieval and Romanesque church building, with round-arched windows and a tower.

tourist attraction · Ålesund Aksla is the 189-metre hill that rises directly above central Ålesund on the island of Nørvøy. A stairway of 418 steps climbs from the town park to the Fjellstua viewpoint, also reached by road, which looks out over the town spread across its islands, the harbour, the outer islands and the mountains beyond; German bunkers from the occupation remain on the hill.
