St. Catherine's Cathedral

St. Catherine's Cathedral is the Catholic cathedral of Alexandria and the church of the city's Franciscan friary. Built in 1847–1856, it received its Roman Baroque facade by Mario Avena in 1927; the exiled Italian king Victor Emmanuel III was buried here from 1947 to 2017. Visitors enter outside services.
