About Perth

Perth is Western Australia's capital on the Swan River, with a compact centre, a large park above it and Indian Ocean beaches to the west. Elizabeth Quay and The Bell Tower are on the riverfront, below Kings Park and its botanic garden. The Perth Cultural Centre holds WA Museum Boola Bardip and the Art Gallery of Western Australia, and the Perth Mint is at the eastern end of the centre. Perth Zoo is across the river in South Perth. Fremantle, with Fremantle Prison, and Cottesloe Beach are a train ride away. Two or three days cover the main sights. Trains, buses and ferries reach most of them.
