Castle of Burgos

The Castle of Burgos crowns the hill above the old town, where Count Diego Porcelos raised a first tower in 884. It grew into a royal fortress of Castile and was blown up by retreating French troops in 1813. Partly rebuilt, it has an interpretation centre, a medieval well 62 metres deep and underground galleries.
