Cambridge University Botanic Garden

Cambridge University Botanic Garden covers 16 hectares between Trumpington Road and Hills Road and holds more than 8,000 plant species used for teaching and research. Professor John Stevens Henslow, Charles Darwin's teacher, planned it on land bought in 1831, and it opened in 1846; it has a lake, a rock garden and a range of glasshouses.
