Çimenlik Castle

Çimenlik Castle, also called Kale-i Sultaniye, was built in 1462 under Mehmed II on the Asian shore of the Dardanelles, opposite Kilitbahir Castle. It now belongs to the Çanakkale Naval Museum: cannons stand in the grounds, the inner keep rises 25 metres, and a British shell fired on 18 March 1915 is still lodged in its northern wall.
