The Château de Chantilly, about 50 km north of Paris, joins the Petit Château built around 1560 for Anne de Montmorency to the Grand Château rebuilt in 1875–1882 by the Duke of Aumale, who left the estate to the Institut de France. It houses the paintings and manuscripts of the Musée Condé; the park and the 18th-century Great Stables are part of the visit.

Parc Astérix is a theme park at Plailly in the Oise, about 35 km north-east of Paris, opened in 1989 and based on the Asterix comics by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo. Its areas recreate Gaul, the Roman Empire, Ancient Greece, Egypt and the Vikings in the style of the albums, with roller coasters such as Goudurix, Tonnerre de Zeus and OzIris, water rides and shows.
