Nathaniel Russell House

The Nathaniel Russell House on Meeting Street is a neoclassical brick town house completed in 1808 for Nathaniel Russell, a merchant who also traded in enslaved people. Known for its free-flying spiral staircase, it is run as a museum by the Historic Charleston Foundation, whose tours cover the Russell family and the enslaved men and women who lived and worked in the house.
