About Charlotte

Charlotte is a city in North Carolina near the South Carolina line, with museums in Uptown and the Carowinds amusement park to the south. Uptown holds the NASCAR Hall of Fame, with race cars on its banked Glory Road, and the Levine Center for the Arts, where the Mint Museum Uptown and the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art show American, European and modern art. Discovery Place Science has a rainforest, an aquarium and an IMAX dome. West of Uptown, the U.S. National Whitewater Center has an artificial river for rafting and kayaking, and Carowinds straddles the state line to the south.
