The archaeological site of Delphi covers the Sanctuary of Apollo on the south-west slope of Mount Parnassus, seat of the Pythia, the oracle consulted across the ancient Greek world. A Sacred Way climbs past treasuries, among them the rebuilt Treasury of the Athenians, to the Temple of Apollo, the theatre and the stadium. The ticket also covers the museum.

The Sanctuary of Athena Pronaia, also called Marmaria, lies on a terrace about 800 m east of the main ruins of Delphi. Its centrepiece is the Tholos, a round marble building of 380–360 BC whose architect Vitruvius names as Theodorus of Phocaea; three of its twenty Doric columns stand again beside the foundations of three temples of Athena.
