About Denver
Denver sits at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, with its museums around Civic Center Park and Red Rocks in the foothills to the west. The Colorado State Capitol faces Civic Center Park, beside the Denver Art Museum and near the Denver Mint, which offers tours. City Park, east of downtown, holds the Denver Museum of Nature and Science and the Denver Zoo, and the Denver Botanic Gardens lie just south of it. The Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception is on Capitol Hill. Red Rocks Park and its amphitheatre stand among sandstone outcrops about 25 km west. Two days cover the city; add one for the foothills.
