Esch-sur-Sûre Castle is the ruin of a castle on a rock spur enclosed by a loop of the Sûre. Meginaud acquired the site in 927 and built a square tower; the castle grew in the Gothic period, a round watchtower was added in the 15th century, and it was dismantled after 1685. The keep, the chapel restored in 1906 and the watchtower remain.

The Upper Sûre Lake is a reservoir created by the Esch-sur-Sûre dam, a 47-metre arch dam built from 1955 to 1958 for drinking water and electricity. Covering about 3.8 square kilometres and stretching some 10 kilometres up the wooded Sûre valley, it is Luxembourg's largest body of water and lies within the Upper Sûre Nature Park.
