Biosphere

The Biosphere is a glass and steel sphere 20 metres across, suspended over the water at Ponte Spinola beside the Aquarium. Designed by Renzo Piano and built in 2001 for the G8 summit, it works as a greenhouse holding a small tropical forest with more than 150 species of plants and animals, among them tree ferns, scarlet ibises, turtles and fish.
