Glasgow Necropolis

The Glasgow Necropolis is a Victorian garden cemetery on a hill east of Glasgow Cathedral, opened in 1833 after the model of Père Lachaise in Paris. Paths climb past about 3,500 monuments, including tombs designed by Alexander Thomson and Charles Rennie Mackintosh, to the column of John Knox of 1825 on the summit. The entrance is over the Bridge of Sighs.
