Japanese Bridge

The Japanese Bridge is a covered wooden footbridge about 18 m long over a small canal in Hội An's old town. Japanese merchants built it in the 1590s, and a small temple to the guardian deity Trấn Vũ was added on its north side in 1653. Lord Nguyễn Phúc Chu named it Lai Viễn Kiều in 1719; carved dog and monkey statues stand at its ends.
