Kirkjugólf

Kirkjugólf, Icelandic for "church floor", is a flat surface of about 80 square metres at the edge of Kirkjubæjarklaustur, formed by the tops of basalt columns worn smooth by the sea and by glaciers. The many-sided stones look like a paved floor, although no church ever stood here; the site is protected as a natural monument.
