St Mark's Cathedral stands on the highest point of Korčula's old town peninsula and was built by local stonemasons between the early 15th and the mid-16th century. Its portal is the work of Bonino da Milano, and inside is an altarpiece by Tintoretto showing St Mark with St Bartholomew and St Jerome. It lost its cathedral status when the diocese was abolished in 1828.

The Land Gate is the main entrance to Korčula's walled old town, reached by a broad stone staircase from the square below the walls. Above the archway rises the Veliki Revelin, a 15th-century tower of the town's fortifications that now belongs to the Town Museum; the gate itself is a public passage into the old town.
