The Collection de l'Art Brut is a museum of works by self-taught makers working outside the art world, such as psychiatric patients and recluses. It grew from the collection Jean Dubuffet began in 1945 and gave to Lausanne, and is shown in the Château de Beaulieu with works by Aloïse Corbaz, Augustin Lesage and Auguste Walla.

The Palais de Rumine is a Florentine Renaissance-style building on the Place de la Riponne, designed by the Lyon architect Gaspard André and paid for by a bequest of Gabriel de Rumine. The Treaty of Lausanne was signed here in 1923. It houses the cantonal museum of archaeology and history, the Naturéum's geology and zoology halls and a library.

Plateforme 10 is an arts district beside Lausanne station, on the site of former railway locomotive halls. It brings together three cantonal museums: the MCBA fine arts museum in a building by Barozzi Veiga opened in 2019, and the mudac design museum and Photo Elysée photography museum, which share a building by Aires Mateus opened in 2022.

The Olympic Museum opened in 1993 on the hillside above the Ouchy quay, on the initiative of IOC president Juan Antonio Samaranch. Its exhibitions cover the history of the Olympic Games with torches, medals and athletes' equipment, and a sloping park with sport sculptures runs down to Lake Geneva.
