Castle of Charles V

The Castle of Charles V is a fortress on the east side of Lecce's old town, built around a 12th-century core and enlarged from 1537 for Emperor Charles V by the military architect Gian Giacomo dell'Acaya, with a curtain wall and four corner bastions. It now holds municipal cultural offices, exhibitions and a papier-mâché museum.
