Lecce Cathedral

Lecce Cathedral, dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin, was rebuilt from 1659 by Giuseppe Zimbalo for Bishop Luigi Pappacoda on Piazza del Duomo. Its richer Baroque facade faces the square from the side, framed by a triumphal arch and crowned by a statue of Saint Oronzo, and its five-storey bell tower stands beside the bishop's palace and the seminary.
