Grand Roc Cave
The Grand Roc Cave opens halfway up the limestone cliff above the Vézère at Les Eyzies, about 100 metres from the Laugerie-Basse rock shelters. Discovered by Jean Maury in 1924 and opened to visitors in 1947, it holds mineral formations rather than prehistoric art: helictites, stalactites, stalagmites and rare hollow triangles of calcite.
