Laugerie-Basse

Laugerie-Basse is a pair of prehistoric rock shelters under a limestone cliff by the Vézère, near Les Eyzies, lived in by Magdalenian people about 14,000 years ago. Dug from 1863, the site yielded some 600 objects, including the carving known as the Vénus impudique. Visitors walk beneath the overhang, past a reconstructed camp.
