Gëlle Fra
The Gëlle Fra (Golden Lady) is a war memorial on Place de la Constitution, inaugurated in 1923 for the Luxembourgers who volunteered in the Allied armies in the First World War. A gilded figure by Claus Cito holds out a wreath from the top of a 21-metre granite obelisk. The Nazi occupiers pulled it down in 1940; it was rebuilt and unveiled again in 1985.
