Mummification Museum

The Mummification Museum stands on the Nile corniche in Luxor, between Luxor Temple and Karnak, and opened in 1997. Its underground gallery explains how the ancient Egyptians embalmed the dead, showing tools, canopic jars, painted coffins, amulets, mummified animals and the mummy of the high priest Masaharta.
