Chillon Castle
Chillon Castle stands on a rock island in Lake Geneva between Montreux and Villeneuve. Built up by the Counts of Savoy, it was held by Bern from 1536 to 1798 and now belongs to the canton of Vaud. Visitors walk through its courtyards, great halls, chapel and the vaulted underground prison described by Lord Byron.
