Nîmes Cathedral
Nîmes Cathedral, dedicated to Our Lady and Saint Castor, stands on the Place aux Herbes in the old town and is the seat of the bishops of Nîmes. Consecrated in 1096 and badly damaged in the Wars of Religion, it was rebuilt in the 17th century; its west front keeps a Romanesque frieze of Old Testament scenes, and the interior was redecorated in 1877-1882.
