Monte Albán

The ruins of the Zapotec capital on a levelled mountain ridge about 9 km west of Oaxaca, founded around 500 BC and inhabited for more than a thousand years. Pyramids, palaces, a ball court and the carved stones of the Danzantes surround the Gran Plaza, with views over the three valleys of Oaxaca.
