Citadel of Pamplona

The Citadel of Pamplona is a pentagonal bastioned fortress ordered by Philip II in 1571 and designed by the military engineer Giacomo Palearo, known as el Fratin; it was completed in 1645. Its five bastions, ditches and outworks now enclose a public park, and former military buildings such as the armoury and the powder magazine house exhibitions.
