Piazza del Campo

Piazza del Campo is the main square of Siena, a sloping, shell-shaped piazza paved in brick and divided into nine sectors by strips of travertine. It is framed by the Palazzo Pubblico, the Torre del Mangia and the Fonte Gaia fountain, and twice each summer the Palio horse race is run around its edge.
