About Tulum

Tulum is a town on the Caribbean coast of Quintana Roo, known for the walled Maya city on a cliff above the sea and for cenotes in the forest. The archaeological site stands about 3 km from the town, with Playa Paraíso just south of it. Inland lie Gran Cenote and the Dos Ojos cave system, and the ruins of Cobá, with the tall Nohoch Mul pyramid, are about 45 km north-west. To the north, Xel-Há park is built around a natural inlet and Akumal has the Yal-Kú lagoon; to the south, Muyil leads into the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve.
