Rue Obscure

The Rue Obscure is a vaulted street about 130 metres long in the old town of Villefranche-sur-Mer, dating from the 13th century. It began as an open patrol walk along the medieval rampart and was roofed over bit by bit between the 16th and 18th centuries as houses grew above it. Jean Cocteau filmed scenes of Le Testament d'Orphée here in 1959.
