Jorvik Viking Centre

Jorvik Viking Centre is a museum built by York Archaeological Trust on the Coppergate site where excavations from 1976 to 1981 uncovered timber buildings and objects of Viking-age York. It opened in 1984; visitors ride in carriages through a reconstruction of the streets of Jórvík around AD 975 and see finds from the dig.
