Akureyri Botanical Garden

The Akureyri Botanical Garden (Lystigarður Akureyrar) lies on the hillside south of the town centre, about 85 km south of the Arctic Circle. The public park opened in 1912 and the botanical garden in 1957; its 3.7 hectares hold lawns, flower beds, a pond and plant collections that include around 400 Icelandic species.
