Alcazaba of Almería

The Alcazaba of Almería is a walled Moorish citadel on a hill above the old town, begun in the 10th century under Abd al-Rahman III, the first caliph of al-Andalus. Its three enclosures hold gardens, cisterns, the remains of a governor's palace and a mosque, and a castle the Catholic Monarchs built after the Christian conquest.
