Cairo Tower

A 187 m concrete tower on Gezira Island in the Nile, designed by the Egyptian architect Naoum Shebib and built from 1956 to 1961; its open lattice shell is meant to evoke a lotus plant. At the top, a circular observation deck and a revolving restaurant look out over central Cairo and the river.
