Craigmillar Castle

Craigmillar Castle is a ruined medieval castle on a low hill about 4.8 km south-east of Edinburgh's city centre. The Preston family began building it in the late 14th century, and Mary, Queen of Scots stayed here in 1566. Visitors can climb the tower house, walk the courtyards and look out over the city.
