Great Beguinage

The Great Beguinage is a walled quarter of about three hectares in the south of Leuven, founded in the early 13th century for beguines, lay religious women. Most of its almost 100 houses date from 1630 to 1670 and line streets on both banks of the Dyle around the Church of Saint John the Baptist. It belongs to KU Leuven and is on the UNESCO list.
