Leuven University Library

Leuven University Library on Ladeuzeplein was built from 1921 to 1928 with American donations, to designs by Whitney Warren, after German troops burned the old library in 1914. Burned again in 1940, it was rebuilt by 1951. Visitors see the oak-panelled reading room and climb the 80.5-metre tower, which holds a carillon of 63 bells.
