Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral

The Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King is Liverpool's Roman Catholic cathedral, built from 1962 to 1967 to a design by Frederick Gibberd. Its circular concrete building is crowned by a lantern tower of coloured glass above the central altar. Beneath it lies the crypt of a far larger cathedral designed by Edwin Lutyens in the 1930s and never completed.
