Valley of the Kings

The Valley of the Kings is a desert wadi on Luxor's west bank where rock-cut tombs were dug for pharaohs and nobles of the New Kingdom, from about 1539 to 1075 BC. Some 65 tombs and chambers are known, including that of Tutankhamun. A rotating selection is open, with painted corridors leading down to the burial chambers.
