About New Orleans
New Orleans lies on the Mississippi in Louisiana and is known for jazz, Creole cooking and the French Quarter around Jackson Square. Jackson Square is framed by St. Louis Cathedral and the Cabildo, where Louisiana was transferred to the United States in 1803. Nearby are Bourbon Street, Preservation Hall, the Old Ursuline Convent and the New Orleans Jazz Museum in the Old U.S. Mint. The Audubon Aquarium stands at the foot of Canal Street, and the Warehouse District has The National WWII Museum and the Ogden Museum of Southern Art. City Park holds the New Orleans Museum of Art.
