Rinnō-ji

Rinnō-ji is a Tendai Buddhist temple in Nikkō, traced to the monk Shōdō Shōnin in 766. Its Sanbutsudō, the largest wooden hall in Nikkō, holds three gilded statues of about eight metres, and the temple also owns Taiyūin, the mausoleum of the third shōgun Tokugawa Iemitsu. It is part of the Shrines and Temples of Nikkō World Heritage Site.
